Located in Jianqiao Town, Fengshun County, Meizhou, Guangdong, located in the depths of the Lotus Range, there is a Hakka castle built in the late Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasty. It has been in existence for more than 600 years.
The "Building Bridge" ancient castle covers an area of 1 square kilometer. The entire building looks like a castle, rectangular, and inside. The ancient city is surrounded by a moat, and the whole city looks like a large boat floating on the water. The four gates of the east, west, south and north and the walls of the ancient city several kilometers away are still well preserved and very solid. The outer wall of the city gate is high and thick. A wooden building shed and narrow gun holes inside and outside are built inside the city gate. The structure is compact and the enclosed fire wall is not exposed, which is conducive to dwellings and thieves.
The last builder of the ancient city of Jianqiaowei was Zhang Deda, the director of Meizhou in the late Yuan Dynasty. He originally lived in Shanghang, Fujian, and was the head of the Jiayingzhou (now Meizhou) Road in Guangdong Province (Jianqiao Town was in Chengxiang County at the time). He was returned to his hometown after the war, and during the Minglong Qing Dynasty (1567 ~ 1572) This foundation.
There are 6 ancestral halls in the castle, a total of 24 in three streets, twelve lanes, and a total of thousands of houses. There are not only ancient lanes in the late Yuan Dynasty. More houses are built in the courtyard of the eaves of the Ming Dynasty, and there are also fireproof gables in the Qing Dynasty. It is a mixed ancient-style building. It is the only ancient city in Yuanzhou, Ming Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty that has been preserved so far. The population inside the enclosure lasted for more than 2,000 people, and now the population spread out from the enclosure is more than 20,000 people all over the world. They are all surnamed Zhang, all descendants of "Deda Gong", and they are all family members. The cultural heritage of the ancient castle built around the bridge is deep. There are four enclosing doors, one of which is inlaid with a stone plaque above the door, each with its own characteristics. The west gate is the main entrance. In the Republic of China, Lin Sen, the chairman of the National Government, once wrote the four characters "Western Mingshi". The recipient was Zhang Jianchu, the former siege of Sun Yat-sen; the East Gate "Consolidation of the East Gate" was written by a scholar in the Qing Dynasty; the South Gate "Xunfeng from the South" was a Hanlin title; the North Gate " "Gongbei Gongbei" was inscribed by a professor at the Railway Institute after the liberation. The residents of Jianqiaowei have been respected for generations, and many talents have emerged. Before liberation, there were many Hanlin bachelors, jinshis, and enrolled people. There are a group of doctors, masters, and college students in modern times. Five flagpoles and two flagpole clips are historical witnesses.
Years have passed. For more than 600 years, warfare has continued. The outside world has undergone earth-shaking changes, but the ancient castle built in Jianqiao has been preserved intact like a golden soup, thanks to the special geographical location of the ancient city. Here, history has precipitated the fine traditions of the ancestors: filial piety, Chongwen, and peace and quiet, which still deeply affect the lives of the people in the ancient city.
Jianqiaowei was recognized by the experts as a village of Chao, Ke, and Qiang culture. In 2009, it was named "the second batch of ancient villages in Guangdong Province."
